YSL is a fashion brand which was established by its founder Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent, or Yves Saint Laurent for short. YSL’s label is one of the most adored designers’ labels which have been sought after by fashion crowd worldwide including its replica YSL.

It is hard to comprehend that this fashion giant was founded by someone who was once institutionalize in a mental hospital during his lifetime. Yves Saint Laurent was born on August 1st 1936 to working class family of an insurance manager in Oran French Algeria.

He left his home at the age of 17 and was to be employed by another great name in French designer, Christian Dior. During his tutelage, his inspired and artistic design had caught the attention of Christian Dior, which led him to be one of his best student and closest companion.

Upon the death of Christian Dior in 1957, Yves Saint Laurent was given the task to head the house of Dior. It was not a good time to be the head of the house due to the financial chaos the fashion house was facing.

Never the loser, Yves Saint Laurent with his gifted talent managed to turn around the impending financial disaster and kept the house profitable with his release of collections time and again.

As luck would have it, he was called upon for compulsory duty by the French army to serve his country during the French-Algerian war of independence.

Yves Saint Laurent was traumatized by the war due to the frenzied and devastating condition of army life. He was admitted to the French Mental Hospital for psychiatric treatment.

After his release, he decided to leave the Dior House and establish his own label house, YSL in the early 60’s. Today his range of YSL product is one of the best sellers alongside the replica YSL.
